Bus Information

There are two major bus services in Copmanthorpe.  Both of these provide fast and frequent, services throughout the day.

Yorkshire Coastliner run a long distance service from Leeds to the East Yorkshire coast.  This provides Copmanthorpe with a fast service to Leeds, Tadcaster, York, Malton and the resorts of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington.  The service can be caught from stops on Tadcaster Road (Copmanthopre), Top Lane, Hallcroft Lane and Manor Heath. Coastliner now run 4 buses an hour to both York and Leeds throughout the day (hourly on Sundays) and provide Copmanthorpe with a very good evening service when their buses divert into the centre of the village.

First York operate the Number 13/13A route from the centre of the Village to the centre of York which runs half hourly during the day, hourly on Sundays. The journey time from Main Street to York railway station is around 18 minutes with Stonebow being reached 7 minutes later.

As of August 2009, a day return fare from Copmanthorpe to York is £2.50 with Coastliner and £3.00 with First. A day return to Leeds has been reduced to £5.00.

Rural Bus

As of November 2009, Copmanthorpe is also served by the Number 21 operated by Harrogate Coach Travel. The 21 runs once every 2 hours and links york city centre with South Bank, Bishopthorpe, Acaster Malbis, Copmanthorpe, Colton, Bolton Percy, and Appleton Roebuck. This service loops round the villages which means that a journey from the city centre to Copmanthorpe takes 35 minutes while the trip to the city centre takes over an hour! The reason the 21 now serves Copmanthorpe is to provide a service to Temple Lane. It will be interesting to see if the residents of this part of Copmanthorpe make use of their new service which they campaigned for.
