Bolton Percy Loop

Copmanthorpe - Wighill - Tadcaster - Bolton Percy - Copmanthorpe

A nice ride of just under 20 miles. Starts with the first half of the Healaugh Loop but continues on gentley rolling roads to Wighill and Tadcaster, followed by flat and twisty road to Bolton Percy.

Take School Lane and Manor Heath all the way up to the flyover junction. Take a right turn and over the A64 and leave on the roundabout on the first exit (to Askham Bryan).

Cycle down the hill passed the entrance to Askham Bryan College of Agriculture. At the bottom turn left following the sign for Askham Richard.

Follow this road for nearly 4 miles to Healaugh. Continue on through the village and on to Wighill. A sharp left bend at Wighill takes you up the hill which gives you very pleasent views over the Wharfe to Boston Spa. Stay on the same road all the way into Tadcaster.

Cross straight over at the traffic lights and you will pass over the A64 and by the enterance to Oxton Hall. The road takes you though Oxton, over the railway and along the edge of Bolton Percy. Stay with the main road as it twists throgh a couple of road junctions. After you pass over the second railway bridge take the left turn signed to Colton. Take another left turn at Colton Bridge and pass over both railway bridges. After ½ a mile take the right turn into Colton and follow the raod back to Copmanthorpe. When you reach Manor Heath turn right to get your self back to the village centre.
